DARTMOOR EXPLORATION

GUIDED WALKS :: EXPLORATION :: MOORLAND TOURS

✫ Would you like to see some of Dartmoor's archaeological sites?
✫ Visit a Medieval tin mill or a Bronze Age settlement?
✫ Walk into the peace of the deep moor and see some of the less well-know tors?

Dartmoor National Park is a fabulous place. Whether it is the flora, fauna, history, archaeology or geology or just wide open spaces, there are many reasons to visit. It can seem a bit daunting off the beaten track however; navigation can be tricky and the terrain and weather must be taken seriously.

I offer guided walks of various distance and duration for individuals or small groups over any part of the moor.

We can concentrate on visiting sites of archaeological interest, have a close look at the flora or just enjoy the atmosphere and landscape of a very special place. This site has a number of photographs of the moor which I hope will whet your appetite!

I’m a qualified member of the Moorland Guides group and hold the Hill & Moorland Leader award, Outdoor First Aid certificate and National Navigation Award Scheme certificates.

Costs depend on duration and location but are approximately £20.00 / hour. All details including location, duration and general aims will be agreed before a booking is confirmed. A detailed suggested equipment list and safety information is sent in good time prior to the walk.

If you would like to discuss arranging a possible walk then please get in touch. Contact details can be found here.

MAP-READING :: COMPASS WORK :: GPS :: NAVIGATION

✫ Are you keen to explore Dartmoor off the beaten track?
✫ Would you like to learn how to use your map and compass or GPS more effectively?
✫ Want to gain confidence and plan your own walks?

I offer one-to-one or small group tuition in navigation techniques on and around Dartmoor. This can be combined with guiding to some of the many interesting features on the moor.

We can start from scratch, to provide a sound base on which to build confidence, or cover specific areas in detail on an individual basis. Training can be part or full days and combine indoor and outdoor work, depending upon the topic and your requirements.

I'm qualified, insured and flexible in terms of time and location. If you would like to know more please get in touch. Contact details can be found here.
