PHOTOGRAPHY

✫ Do you enjoy taking photographs?
✫ Would you like to move beyond the ‘Auto’ setting on your camera and use its full potential?
✫ Would you like to learn the process of printing an image?

Modern digital cameras offer huge potential for capturing high quality images – even ‘simple’ models are very capable. If you’re starting from scratch however they can seem a bit complex and maybe a basic introduction to the various options would be useful.

I offer one-to-one or small group tuition in photography in South Devon including the coast and Dartmoor. Training can be part or full days and combine indoor and outdoor work as required.

We can start from scratch, and cover the underlying principles common to all cameras; or work on specific areas on an individual basis. Printing and mounting of your images to gallery standard can be included for an additional cost.

I'm qualified, insured and flexible in terms of time and location. If you would like to know more please get in touch. Contact details can be found here.

PRINTMAKING

✫ Are you an undiscovered artist!?
✫ Would you like to try your hand at printmaking?
✫ Like to make an image for a card or T-shirt?

Printmaking is a very diverse collection of image making techniques. There are at least a dozen distinct forms and much cross-over between them. Typically the process involves the transfer of an inked image from a matrix or plate of some type onto a paper surface.

I run introductory lino-cutting workshop at my own studio or at other venues. During the workshop I will give an overview of printmaking techniques in general including: etching, collagraph, dry-point, wood-cuts etc. and provide an enjoyable practical introduction to the processes of linocut printmaking.

Typically those attending a course will print a number of trial plates to look at cutting and printing techniques. We then concentrate on designing and making a number of simple lino-cut prints.

You will have the opportunity to see or try various techniques; some will be illustrated by demonstration. Methods for printing both with and without the use of a press will be covered.

Attendees usually take home several prints made during the day together with their associated plates. Contact details can be found here.
